Mary Ziegenhagen moved to Cloverdale in 2000, from Minnesota where she was communications officer for the Minnesota Historical Society and the McKnight Foundation. For her work as founder/publisher of five community weekly newspapers, she was named state “Businesswoman of the Year.” A Bush Foundation fellowship sponsored mid-career study at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Overseas experience included Peace Corps service in the Philippines and Western Samoa as well as two Himalayan treks. Writing awards have recognized her newspaper columns as well as the book “Valley of Grass: Native Prairies and Parkland of the Red River Region,” published by the Nature Conservancy and North Star Press. In the 1960’s Mary worked in Washington for Vice President Hubert Humphrey and Senator Eugene McCarthy of her home state. Currently, she is employed at Healdsburg District Hospital as a medical transcriptionist and enjoys community life in Cloverdale. Her husband is David Ziegenhagen and their sons are Marc and Eric.

Sally Belford was born in Santa Monica, CA and attended Santa Monica City College, UCLA and graduated from California State University at Los Angeles. She worked in the Publications Dept. at The RAND Corporation in Santa Monica for 36 years until she retired and then did consulting for an additional two years. In 1999 Sally moved to Cloverdale and enjoys spending time swimming, reading, walking, gardening and traveling, along with volunteering. She also serves on the board of the North Coast Wine and Visitor Center located here in Cloverdale.

Norma Trump is originally from the state of Minnesota. She graduated from South Dakota Beauty Academy in Sioux Falls and worked as a beautician until becoming a full-time homemaker. Norma and her husband, Mike, have lived in several states including New York, Texas and Utah. While raising two sons Norma played semi-pro softball, coached high-school softball, served as a volunteer hiking guide, was a National Cub Scout Training Leader and enjoyed skiing, biking, and woodcarving. However, Norma considers her most important work to be the recently finished genealogy of both her and Mike’s families. The couple moved to Cloverdale in 2000 and have been active volunteers with the Historical Society since their arrival.

Crawford Cooley is a 5 th generation Californian whose family first came to what was to become Sonoma County in 1845 and to Cloverdale in the 1850's. The majority of his business career has been in venture capital, having been a partner in the pioneer venture capital firm Draper, Gaither and Anderson. In addition, he manages and is an owner of family ranch holdings in Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino counties of approximately 22,000 acres, which are devoted to dairy, grazing and wine grape production. Colley is married to the former Jess Porter and they reside on a Marin County ranch. The couple has four children and four grandchildren. Colley serves on a number of profit and nonprofit boards and is a trustee emeritus of Stanford University.

Marge Gray has served as President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Director-at-Large since joining the Historical Society in 1984. Marge, along with long-time member Louise Morris, started the Quilt Raffle, which has been a popular fundraising project for the past 15 years. Marge also works in the Research Center and serves as docent for group tours of the museum. Her husband, Jim, also an active volunteer, has served as Master Gardner for the Victorian Garden since it’s purchase in 1989. Both Marge and Jim bring an art background to the many services they have performed for the Society over the years. They were both instrumental in the completion of the earthquake retrofit and renovation of the museum building completed in 1999 and continue to give generously of their time and talents.

Bob McAlister recently retired as Mendocino County Chief Probation Officer and is a past president of the National Community Sentencing Association. He was a founder of the Mendocino Big Brothers and Sisters, and other local youth programs. McAlister holds a degree in psychology from UC Davis. In 1967 he received his acceptance to graduate school and his draft notice in the same week. He attended Officer Candidate School and spent three years as a communications officer on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. Currently, his community activities include membership in the Cloverdale Kiwanis Club. His enthusiasms include railroad history and he belongs to the California State Railroad Museum Association. McAlister is also a 25 year veteran of Ultimate Frisbee.

Doug. M. Laurice opened a small real estate brokerage in Cloverdale in 2001 after having practiced law in Palo Alto for 30 years. His law degree is from Boalt Hall School of Law in Berkeley and his undergraduate degree is from Northwestern University. In recent years, Doug has been active in the Cloverdale Historical Society, the Cloverdale Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce, of which he is past chairman of the board and a current board member. He is married with two adult children and one grandchild. Laurice and his wife reside on Highway 128 north of Cloverdale and his real estate office is just a short walk from the museum. Laurice hopes to see the Society continue to grow in membership and endowment.
