The first documented record of a moving picture in Cloverdale is held in the Citrus Fair Pavilion where 4000 feet of film played on an Edison machine presented to the public for 50 cents adults and 25 cents children. The Union Hall Opera house presented vaudeville, hypnotist, and other entertainments which included kinetoscope moving pictures. A 1904 Reveille article noted the presentation of a moving picture on equipment that did not have the “quiver and blur” of others. Moving picture events were announced in the Reveille through 1910 when it stated that the White Bros. were opening a moving picture show in Humbert’s Opera house four nights a week showing “Pathe French films, Biograph, Vitagraph, etc.” pictures. However, there are no further mentions of this endeavor.

The name, Chamber of Commerce, is adopted by the Cloverdale Board of Trade which had formed in September 1906 to promote cooperation and fair business practices among the local businessmen, as well as to promote endeavors which benefitted the community. By changing its name, the Board was following the many other organizations of the North of Bay Counties Association whose purpose was to promote their communities for business and tourism. The Chamber’s first action under the new name was to develop a pamphlet and photographs for promotion.
The Orange City Hotel is built by John June next to the Citrus Fair Pavilion. It had electric lights in each room, a ladies parlor, and reading room. There was also a stable next door. A year later, Mr. June added a restaurant. All were destroyed by the 1909 fire which also destroyed the Pavilion. June built a new hotel on the site in 1910. In 1920 it was sold to Earl Snyder who ran it as Dad Snyder's Tavern. In 1943, the hotel was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Silva who ran it until 1955 when they sold it to Bank of America. The building was razed and a new structure built for the Bank. Today it houses Exchange Bank. [Location: 116 S. Cloverdale Blvd.
